The
eastern rosella is now regarded as the same species as the pale-headed rosella.
Use of nestboxes by the eastern rosella has been reported by several people around
Australia. So far we have had only one opportunity to work with eastern rosellas, and in
that situation they used one of our Lorikeet boxes, something which the pale-headed
rosella will also do on occasions.
All of this suggests that the
characteristics described for the pale-headed rosella apply also for eastern rosellas.

The
adjacent sketch shows the dimensions of our Rosella box.
These are probably the best, general-purpose dimensions for a nestbox, having been used
by rosellas, cockatiels, lorikeets, boobook owls, dollar birds and brushtail and ringtail
possums.
